The Handweavers Guild of Lincoln (HWGL) is a 501c3 (non-profit) organization. HWGL is a group of individuals who share an interest in the art of hand-weaving, spinning, and other fiber arts. The skill levels of members range from those just beginning to weave and spin to those who have been weaving and spinning for years. The Guild offers community, educational opportunities and the exchange of ideas.

The HWGL was organized on January 11, 1947 by Mrs. C. L. Meeks for the purpose of:

  • Promoting interest in the art of handweaving
  • Promoting the interchange of ideas and craftsmanship
  • Furthering the education of handweaving
  • Improving the weaving techniques of its members
